Fiddlers Feast

The new Fiddlers Feast album ‘Caravan’ hit the road last month with the band launching the album at their annual concert series at the Tamworth Country Music Festival. The madcap first single ‘The Devil Went Down To Tamworth’ appropriately found its mark with the Super Radio Network picking up the song thanks to support from the man behind the golden microphone John Laws along with a host of Community Radio stations nationwide.

As legendary Australian country music presenter John Nutting (Australian Country) comments “you have my complete support... I love these blokes!” Bay FM’s Jan Naryadds lovely album, they’re sooooo versatile and switch so effortlessly and well from one style to the next. Caravan’s on rotation!”

Look and listen out for Fiddlers Feast on the Super Radio Network, ZFM and the Power Country Network, 90.1 Happy FM, 2Bobradio 104.7FM, 2MAX, Hobart FM 96.1 / 92.1, Radio Adelaide, Original Country Radio, Country Roads One FM Shepparton, 1629am Newcastle, 2NUR, Australian Country, Bay FM 100.3, 98.9 North West FM, 2SNR, 99.9 Voice FM & in Capital News, Country Update Magazine & Trad & Now.

Jim Low

Jim Low

Australian Bush Laureate Awards finalistJim Low’s new album Across the Blue Mountains is now ready for production.

The album is being released to help commemorate the region’s Bicentennial, celebrations of which are planned continually for the next 3 years (2013-15) taking in the explorers' crossing, the road building and Macquarie's first use of the road. The highlight will be the re-enactment of the crossing in May 2013. Blue Mountains Council has a site specifically for the Crossings.

In the meantime if you haven’t already, discover The Further I Travel songs from which can be heard at the Undercover Music Soundcloud page. The album is still enjoying plenty of radio support from folk and country programs alike with Ian ‘Macca’ McNamara recently playing Towns on the Castlereagh (featured in this month’s edition of Undercover Radio) on his Australia All Over show.

Look out for Jim Low inLe Cri du Coyote Magazine thanks to our good mate Roland Lanzarone who suggests Jim is certainly a man of reflection who nicely writes his songs recalling Australian historical events in the form of country ballads.

Finally check our gig guide (top right) for Jim’s upcoming shows.

Recording projects – Warren is currently in talks with ABC Music about further historical albums. There will also be more Rouseabout releases where he is Executive Producer. 2013 will also see the publication of his long-overdue e-book 'Sing Us Anothery, Dirty As Buggery' .. the definitive book on Australian bawdry and the perfect accompaniment to the two CD releases by The Celebrated Knackers & Knockers Band featuring Warren Fahey’s alter ego Major Bumsore. As Warren says himself “the person who knows how to laugh at himself will never cease to be amused!”

There will be more library concerts, talks, Australian Folklore Unit website updates and research, and, when Waz gets time, some time playing his concertina. Warren Fahey just keeps on keeping on!

The Lovetones

We have said it time & time again and often been castigated but The Lovetones are probably Australia’s most underrated music commodity who enjoy infinitely more success overseas than they do in their homeland.

The Sydney Morning Herald’s Jonno Seidler recently had this to say about their Provenance collection. Even if, like this reviewer, you have never heard the Lovetones before, testimonials from the Brian Jonestown Massacre's Anton Newcombe and members of various Australian bands give a proper indication of what we've been missing. This collects the best of the group's five records and is a revelation. A timeless sound that pursues classic songwriting, rather than pandering to the popular; the Lovetones' output is instantly endearing, as is the performance of singer Matt Tow.
(Jonno Seidler, SMH, February 2013)

Front man Matt Tow is currently touring his new solo album The Way Of Things along the USA West Coast.

Provenance (YEP014) is OUT NOW through MGM Distribution and also directly from Undercover Music via ‘Mail Order’, along with The Lovetones entire back catalogue. Check out their artist page for all the details.
