Telemetry Orchestra
New album EMPIRE out this month.
Telemetry Orchestra make “ingenious mind-melting electro-folk, with a tough rootsy bedrock” (Ministry Mag). The band is well known to dance and indie audiences through their two previous albums, numerous compilation appearances, and solid alternative radio airplay. The T.O has a strong following on the east coast live scene, headlining and supporting the likes of Salmonella Dub, B(if)tek, Gerling, Prop, and CODA.
With Empire, the band’s third album length excursion, Telemetry Orchestra returns from stints in the UK and the East with a bounty of inspired new tracks that combine analogue, electric and live sounds, with vocal contributions from all three members. Whilst still decked out in the plush, surprising textures and sonic detail for which they are known, the T.O enter new territories with a sound more bold and expansive than ever.
From the psychedelic travelogue of first single Under the Cherry Tree (which is already receiving airplay on Triple J and alternative radio across the country) and the jagged, synth-rock of Pinch of Distraction, to the delicate spaciousness of Miles Away, the album is rich in diversity and is sure to please fans and new comers alike. Empire is an album of sophisticated and complex pop which expands the band’s frontiers, yet still keeps the home fires burning.
The first single, Under The Cherry Tree will be distributed to community radio this month via AMRAP. Look out for the video, which is being produced by award winning director/animator Dael Oates at Animal Logic on a TV near you real soon. You can also check out the audio later this month at www.undercovermusic.com.au/telemetry_orchestra.htm & Australian Music Online's www.amo.org.au.

Fiddler's Feast
Fiddler's Feast new album stirs up a Frenzee
Frenzee by name and frenzy by nature - Fiddler's Feast's new album Frenzee is out August 5th through MGM and is already causing a stir amongst critics and fans (see reviews below). Fiddler's Feast launch their fifth long player at the Basement in Sydney on Tuesday August 22nd with special guest George Washingmachine. The Fiddlers will be in top flight after they return from performing alongside John Williamson, Warren Fahey, Mark Atkins, Claymore and many others at the Festival InterCletique in Lorient, Brittany - the biggest folking festival in Europe which attracts over 700,000 visitors each year. If the "pre-Lorient extravaganza" at the Harp Hotel, Tempe last month is anything to go by, we'd suggest to book your tickets early at www.thebasement.com.au or (02) 9251-2797!
Fiddler's Feast is Marcus Holden, Mark Oats, Clare O'Meara, Rodney Ford, John Coker and Gary Steel and are described as "a powerhouse of Australian Celtic music that flies down bush tracks, over blue mountains and zips down the Australian city highways." The new album, FRENZEE, is a ripper-roaring collection featuring all sorts of fiddling from Country to tongue-in-cheek classical, from twisted jazz tracks to rock and reel. And a plethora of weird and wonderful music and musical guests from all parts of the harmonic spectrum including the fabulous George Washingmachine and the legendary Andrew Clermont.
You can check out tracks from the new album here, www.moshtix.com.au, www.thebasement.com.au, and on ABC Local's music website Oz Trax www.abc.net.au/oztrax. Folk Australia will also be giving away copies online at www.folkaustralia.com.
Look and listen out for Fiddler's Feast in the following media: ABC Local Radio, Magic 693, Country Harvest, All Kinds of Country, Sunday Herald Sun, The Australian Irish Network www.tain.net.au, Radio Adelaide's The Folk Show, PBS FM, www.folkaustralia.com, Trad & Now, Country Capers, 3RPP, Highland FM, 4RED, 2RDJ & 2MBS. Further afield, in September, the group heads back to Japan for their fourth visit. This time, they're headlining at the inaugural Australia-Japan Fiddle Festival in Osaka and have some gigs lined up in Tokyo. "We were invited to play at Expo in Nagoya last September and can't wait to get back" says Marcus. "We have made many friends over there and always have a great time."
