Warren Fahey
Courtesy of Warren Fahey's Bodgie Newsletter No. 2 Winter 2012.
Warren Fahey always enjoys regional concert tours and he along with fiddler extraordinaire Mark Oats are headed to South Australia on the 8th August for two weeks of library and historical houses concerts.
Library concerts at Onkaparinga, Salisbury, Port Pirie and some special concerts at the State Library of S.A., the National Trust's Ayers House, the S.A. Maritime Museum, the South Coast Folk Club, and, on the weekend of the 11/12 a weekend bush camp at Bungaree Station. Contact HATS for details.
As a Potts Pointer, Warren has long-lamented the lack of 'intelligent' music in the area. There was a time when Kings Cross (which is technically part of Potts Point) was THE place to go to hear jazz, folk music, blues etc - so he decided to bring it back. Local restaurant, Concrete Blonde, readily agreed to host live music every Sunday and Wednesday and they’re now looking at additional nights - probably a classical evening. The food is terrific and the ambience is ideal for live music as the restaurant and bar has roaring fires, an open kitchen and an outdoors section. Warren is selecting the music and it has already been a fascinating ride with performances from the likes of Jeff Duff, Janet Seidel & Pena Flamenca. Bookings recommended – 93808307.

The Lovetones
“I really had my love for the 'Tones reawakened at ‘Dig It Up’. I had that wonderful moment of "oh, that's right: Matthew Tow is AMAZING!"
- Andrew Street, Time Out Sydney
That is right Matthew Tow is amazing as are Messrs Sigley, Cobb & Judson that make up the current incarnation of one of this country’s most underrated musical commodities The Lovetones. To celebrate the band’s tenth anniversary, Provenance – Collected Works (YEP014) is out now locally on Yep! Records & internationally through AWAL UK.
“The relevance to The Lovetones and their newly-released compilation album Provenance is two-fold. Firstly, The Lovetones are a band that captures and extends the best of the classic 1960s pop sensibility. Secondly, unlike the near-dead band relying on a greatest hits album to resuscitate a failing career, Provenance is a timely reminder of the songwriting brilliance of The Lovetones, and Matthew Tow in particular.” (Patrick Emery, Mess + Noise). Check out the full review.
The album can be heard in its entirety on Undercover Music’s SoundCloud & features all their classic pop masterpieces & loads more including a bonus DVD filmed by Moshcam at the Metro in Sydney.
The Lovetones recently launched the release with well attended shows in Sydney & Melbourne.
Listen out for The Lovetones on 2SER, Triple R Broadcasters, FBi 94.5FM & 2RRR and look for them in Mess + Noise, Charter Magazine, The Brag, Time Out Sydney, Drum Media, Inpress & Beat Magazine.
