Jim Low

Jim Low

According to 1629am Newcastle’s Ian Crombie“Jim is a very accomplished singer songwriter.” His latest album is The Further I Travel which he recorded with folk scene stalwarts Chloe & Jason Roweth. The inimitable Pat Drummond also speaks of Jim in glowing terms “Jim is really a very fine Settler Culture Writer and the Gary Shearston influence, combined with his own experience as Country Teacher, gives the tracks a real authenticity that is sadly lacking in a lot of modern Country / Folk releases. I am enjoying this album immensely.”

The Further I Travel has been well received by folk & country radio scoring album of the week on ArtSound FM as well as features on Don McChesney’s “Fleurieu Folk” program on 5EFM Victor Harbour, Jan Nary’s Acoustic Harvest show on BAY FM, Jenny Flux’s Grassroots on 2AIR, John Weeks’ Spectrum FM & Raymond Phillips’ Country Harvest.

Listen out for Jim Low on community radio nationwide especially ArtSound FM, 5EFM, Radio Eastern 98.1, Country Harvest, Spectrum FM, BAY FM, 5EBI, 2YOU, 2SNR, 2MAX, KIX FM, 2NUR, Sweet FM, Country Roads, 2UUU, 3CR, Radio Adelaide, Edge Radio 99.3FM, 5GTR & on ABC Saturday Night Country, ABC Wide Bay plus Radio 1629am Newcastle. You can also listen to a selection of songs from the album on Soundcloud.

Gary Shearston

Gary Shearston

The word “legend” is used freely in the music world, but few could be more entitled to its use than Gary Shearston.

“Renegade” is living proof you can reach your seventies, spend your entire adult life in music, and still have a voice, something to say, and the determination to say (or rather, sing) it! Get your hands on this album and find out for yourself! (Ian Dearden, Trad & Now, May 2012)

One of Australia’s most eulogized & influential singer songwriters Gary Shearston continues to be prolific in his musical output with the finishing touches being put on his latest studio masterpiece The Great Australian Groove. Recorded and mixed by Restless Music’s evergreen Roger Ilott, The Great Australian Groove will be Gary’s 14th full length album (excluding a couple of best of collections) and his fourth released on Rouseabout Records. The album has a more upbeat feel than its recent predecessors Best of All Trades (2009)& Renegade (2011) but Shearston’s inimitable songwriting remains as poignant as ever at the fore.

In the meantime we have included songs from Gary’s Here & There, Now & Then (RRR41) anthology & Best of All Trades (RRR46) album on this month’s edition of Undercover Radio which were recently play listed on ABC Radio’s “Australia All Over”, Oak FM, 3WAY & 2HRN respectively.
